The Trade Shack postcode community
Trade Shack AU is more than just a trading platform. We are a movement, a collective of individuals who believe in the power of local communities and the importance of self-sustainability. We provide the tools and platform to facilitate this process, offering a secure and independent platform (TRADESHACK AU SOCIAL)for you to communicate with people in your Postcode Community.
Our commitment to local communities is closely tied to our belief in sustainability. As discussed in our Prepping Guide, sustainability is about cultivating practices that allow you to meet your needs independently while also contributing to your community. It’s about growing your own food, reducing waste, and sharing resources. You can take a significant step towards self-sustainability by joining a local community.
One of the key initiatives at Trade Shack AU is our Postcode Communities. These communities group local resources like backyard growers, commercial growers, services, and products to shorten the supply chain. They provide a mechanism to talk, trade, buy/sell, and swap locally, safely, and securely. You can learn more about our Postcode Communities here.
Another important aspect of Trade Shack AU is our “Seed To Plate” initiative. This approach encourages growing your own food, promoting self-sufficiency, and reducing reliance on long supply chains. You can learn more about our Seed To Plate initiative here.
At Trade Shack AU, we believe in the power of knowledge sharing. Our blog is a treasure trove of articles on various topics related to sustainability, self-sufficiency, and community building. We invite you to explore our blog and join the conversation.
Finally, we have our Local Exchange platform. This platform is based on the principle of bartering – you bring something and take something. But it’s not a trade in the traditional sense. The exchange is based on deposit and collection happening at different time frames. It’s an honesty system that relies on the strength of community connections. You can learn more about our Local Exchange platform here.
We invite you to join us on our discussion forum where we discuss all these topics and more. It’s a place where you can connect with like-minded individuals, share your ideas, and learn from others.
In conclusion, joining Trade Shack AU is not just a choice; it’s a commitment to a more sustainable, resilient, and equitable future. It’s a commitment to your community, your planet, and yourself. So why wait? Join the Trade Shack AU community and start your journey towards self-sustainability today.

Introducing communities grouped by Postcode Communities. We use postcodes to set geographical boundaries, making it easier to define "local". Postcode boundaries are not restricting, they are merely to put a name to a group or location.
We started trading seeds online using Telegram Groups, and there is an active trade among the Telegram Group members. Bartering goods etc. Seeds are the start of all growth. It is the start of self-sufficiency and homesteading.
Newly introduced to connect, mainly growers, with customers. Ideally, the business is sourcing all its materials within a 50km radius. Is a local grower, produces locally, sells locally and hires locally. Build local, grow local, sell local, and buy local.
Trade Anything, basically, you can trade anything related to homesteading. Social Media causes issues when you sell animals, or you have to pay for them. On the Trade Shack, it is free and has no limitation on trading honest homesteading produce. (Yes, it is FREE)
We spoke with the person who set up the Local Edible Exchange. Wrote up the guidelines based on our conversation. We can include Local Edible Exchange for each community if they want, should they not want to use Fakebook.
Paid members get access to the posts, our old courses, which are more detailed and have step-by-step instructions, and priority access to new posts. Starting from $20 per YEAR, you get access.
All design, hosting and paying for the licenses are costly. Constantly updating the webpage and finding ways to serve you better is time-consuming. If you feel like we added value, and entertain you for a little while then please donate towards the running cost of the site. It is truly appreciated.
The Trade Shack was initially designed to help those who lost their job during the CoVid19 period. A few people got together and identified the need to create a platform for people to connect without using Fakebook and other social media platforms. Be able to have free uncensored discussions about any and all topics.
This quickly grew into a more complex project than any of us could imagine. We included options for teachers to create courses and sell those courses to students. We created prepping forums, community gatherings and many other things. It got too big and stripped the Trade Shack down to focus on homesteading and self-sufficiency.
